Yes I am back!
And my first post would be on the first hotel that I stayed when I was in Hanoi. Nope, no food yet..patience my friends. We chose this hotel as we just needed a simple place to rest and to place our luggages when we are out for overnight trips...
1. We booked the room online a month before our trip. When we reached the said address, there was no Anh Toan Plaza Hotel (13 Hang Can Street). Staff from Hanoi Lotus (15 Hang Can Street) rushed out and said their hotel is aka Anh Toan.
2. We checked in and were told that we got the 'penthouse' aka, highest floor at level 5. No elevator. 2 teenage boys took our luggage up. Room was pretty large, but dusty. Some lights were not working. Next morning the air-con sputtered water on the bed.
3. Boys got frisky and we were harassed by them (i shall not go into detail).
4. The tour offered by this hotel was very expensive and we decided to sign up with another company. Nonetheless, we will be paying for the room (we booked for 4 nights consecutively) as it was cheap and we did not want to lug our luggages to our overnight trip. We were kicked out from the hotel next morning when we were boarding our tour bus. They just said "Check out. You go. Group coming. Take your room". Though we insisted we booked the room a month back, showed our receipt and paid deposit, they still took our luggage out and chucked to the tour bus. As the tour group was getting impatient, we were forced to pay (the nites that we stayed) and we left, boiling and swearing.
So please, my friends, avoid this hotel like a plague when you are in Hanoi as it really sucks. Real bad. For those who had good experience with this hotel, well guess you are freaking lucky!
As far as we know, this hotel is now named Hanoi Lotus. Aka Anh Toan Plaza Hotel. There was a third name that I cant recall. Since they change the hotel name ever so often, best bet is to look out for address, ie, either 13 or 15 Hang Can street, Hanoi.
