After a tumulous, uncertain direction from her company, Bollywood Queen was the 'lucky' one to be posted (more likely forced upon) out station indefinitely.... a smaller, less vibrant town for such a drama queen I guess.
I knew she was not looking forward to it; I was not either...she was one of my usual hang-out makan kaki :(
Not to make her farewell somber, we decided to sign up for a nibbleish adventure (as recommended in cumi&ciki)....in which I was very certain that Bollywood Queen would enjoy tremendously.
What's nibblish? BQ askedThis allows us to taste different food at different restaurant- all located within walking distance..
That is so cool dude!
And so we selected the Jalan Bangkung combo at Bangsar..
We started off our appetizers at Cava..
The tapas platter consists of mushroom bruschetta, spanish lamb boulette and prawn pil pil. Cute presentation and very tasty; the ladies enjoyed this tremendously. The smoked salmon salad with mayo, pomelo and citrus dressing was refreshing and tangy; we liked it too. Cauliflower soup was a less popular option though; most didnt like the flavour. I find it ok, not that bad.
All this while, BQ was regaling us with her many tales, leaving everyone with guffaws of laughters...
We adjourned next for our mains at The Tasting Room..
Still loud and boisterous, we make our way upstairs and gosh, it was so quiet! The other tables were just quiet and eating their meals....Except for us :p
Main course was Roasted Cod fish-served on squid ink pasta, sundried tomatoes, asparagus and cepes volute sauce; Roasted Lamb Rack- on new potatoes, garden veg and lam jus; and Pan Fried Angus tenderloin- served on mushroom risotto, veg and portobello confit with carbenet reduction. I liked the juicy cod in which flakes nicely, but the pasta was way too salty. Lamb rack was mediocre. Angus was tender and moist; goes prettily with the creamy risotto.
By now, amy was already stuffed, while the rest of us?
Well, we're ready for desserts!
And we scooted over to Leonardo's for desserts..
We had all 3 choices; the Affagato, Waffles and homemade Tiramisu. The Affogato was cooling and not too sweet. Would have preferred a stronger dose of kahlua. The Tiramisu was fresh and moist, though we felt more alcohol would have enhanced this piece of cake. The Waffles on the other hand, was a big hit; have the warm waffles with ripe grilled bananas, bits of crunch from the almond slivers, drizzled it with syrup and a dollop of smooth vanilla gelato and the ladies mouth were shut (for a while) :p
It was good fun, I'm glad Bollywood Queen enjoyed herself that night. And all for RM70 per person. Dear BQ, hope all is well over there now? Who knows, maybe you'll learn to enjoy the slower paced, less dramatic town? :p Yes, yes, we know you'll be back.
