We popped by Ipoh for about 2 hours to buy Aun Kheng Lim's salted chicken and to have some other food.
Jane, who's from Ipoh, joined us and brought us to Tong Sui Kai (Dessert street). Most unfortunately, I didnt get to see jason as he was working that day..
As it was not dinner time yet, many stalls were not open.
We settled for some pork innards porridge and dessert. Jane said that this porridge stall is her father's favourite porridge stall and we decided to order a few bowls..
The fried intestines were really crunchy and goes well with the porridge....
The texture of the porridge was velvety and creamy, definitely a feel good food. The pork slices and innards were just ok for me though, some parts were a little too porky. The guys didnt even finish their portion. I still prefer pork innards porridge at Low Yau Kee though, that was much sweeter and no porky taste..
Andrew tummy still felt uncomfortable from all the food we had in penang and he ordered a simple red bean soup.
Was just mediocre though... I wanted to have ice kacang but someone ordered the mixed fruit shaved ice that looks fantabulous.
I cant help it. I ordered too ;p. Huge bowl of shaved ice, heavily drizzled with sugar syrup, evaporated milk, loads of fruits on top, bottom was filled with crunchy peanuts, cincau, jellies, nata de coco and topped with a scoop of ice cream. So much so that I cant finish my portion.
I was searching like a mad woman for the egg skin popiah that jason had.. I asked the stall owners there, if there's any popiah. Never had a popiah stall here, ever.. they replied. Huh? But jason had it here wor...
I only realised that the egg popiah was at Man U hawker centre, opposite of Tong Sui Kai when I return to KL..sigh.. :-(
Tong Sui Kai is located opposite SRJK (C) Sam Tet, off Jalan Sultan Idris.
