It was an extremely belated birthday dinner for Bollywood Queen and SL as none of us managed to fix a time meet up for dinner...
And one fine day, we did managed to have a get together, and SF suggested dinner at Courtyard. Tucked at a nice, quiet corner in Damansara Heights, Courtyard is a cosy place with lovely ambience, which I felt comfortable with, almost instantaneously. With the friendly-but-not-overtly-stifling waiters, we chose our seats and was promptly served with free drinks (complimentary for ladies on saturdays). The waiter took our orders and we started our hearty dose of gossiping and catching up while waiting for our food..
For starters, we had Unagi Rice croquet...
As Courtyard serves mainly fusion food, I expected something different. It sure didn't disappoint, with the rice croquet served warm, it was delicious. The filling was short grain rice mixed with mince unagi, tuna (i think) and some sweet sauce (teriyaki?). Wrapped in seaweed and lightly battered with tempura, fried till golden brown, the flavours and texture were well balanced and complementing. I do find it rich tough, luckily we shared this.
Next was fried cheese mushroom.
Looked like a dimsum dish on the exterior, the filling of oozing melted cheese and diced mushrooms wins my vote :)
SF had Aglio Olio Champignon.
Medium sized portion, tasty, a lil heavy on the pepper but still ok.
Bollywood Queen decided to give the Eastern Lamb a shot...![](https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjAI8S5-IoKQeTzbG7S8cFgvQNmRfxmDqrzeaHt0xwQzGU3C9NK2qEkOm6zAWs4E4MunvLoVC0PrgS7CcdCGxr1Dg07aiAjCduH_HqAuJJLPpOf_M85zRHk0QDgwFFMlUzxcEGG4q68rmhk/s400/P4070142.JPG)
Supposed to have been marinated with five types of oriental spices (or is it one type, ie, five spice powder?hmmm) and braised to perfection as described in the menu, I thought this was a rather plain dish as I have tasted better lamb shank.
SL had Auckland Teriyaki..
The salmon was marinated with teriyaki sauce and served on a bed of garlic udon. I managed to steal a bite..hehe.. of the salmon, which was lip smacking, as the skin was crispy, but the meat was moist..
Last but not least, I had Miso Seabass...
I throughly enjoyed this.. the seabass had the same texture as the salmon, crispy skin and moist meat, coated with some sweet(miso?) sauce. The baked scallops were good, fresh and springy texture. Loved the asparagus, just the right crunch to it. My only gripe was the sliced mushrooms, which was too buttery and sweet for my tastebuds to tolerate..
Desserts were hot chocolate pudding..
and bread and butter pudding..
both which i shall not comment much but to say..skip it!
We came to the consensus that most food was good, but Courtyard does real wicked fish dishes. Total bill was RM270.
What Julianne thinks?
Imaginative, relaxed and scrumptious
The Courtyard Garden is located at 10, Lorong Dungun, Damansara Heights, KL. Opposite KPMG.
P/s: Hey guys, I'll be away for a short break and will be back next week. Won't be posting anything during my break. Till then, happy eating!
